About this event

DAIR & McMaster University hosted a panellist discussion, welcoming Dave Hyem  – Vice President Boeing (retired), and Bill Mateer, Executive Site Operations, GE Aircraft Engines (retired).

Dave & Bill shared valuable information and specific examples of the lessons learned, and their thoughts on the key factors needed to succeed, as well as opportunities for aerospace companies of any size, to leverage green manufacturing solutions.

Dave was Vice President of Metals for Boeing, leading strategy & operations at several factories employing more than 6,000 people. He was previously a general manager of Boeing Portland, overseeing Boeing Helena and Boeing Sheffield in the United States and Boeing Canada Winnipeg. Dave now sits as a member of the Board of Advisors with the TWI Institute.

Bill retired as the Executive Site Operations for the Bromont Quebec Aviation facility in April 2021. During his 38-year career, he has held numerous leadership roles, including Executive Site Operations for the GE Peterborough Ontario, VP of Operations for Rolls-Royce Canada Montreal, GM of GE Hydro Global Supply Chain, Montreal, Quebec, to name a few. He now sits as a member of the Board of Directors for GE Canada and Aéro Montréal.
