On March 22 and 23, 2017 the Ontario Aerospace Council (OAC) hosted their second annual Beyond the Barriers: Building the Ontario Aerospace R&T Community event at the Toronto Airport Marriott Hotel that was focused on building academic partnerships, finding funding partners, and networking across all levels of the research and development chain.
The Downsview Aerospace Innovation and Research (DAIR) Consortium was a sponsor of the event and is a member of the OAC. DAIR is a consortium of leading academic and industry institutions in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), and the OAC is a not-for-profit organization with a purpose to enhance recognition of Ontario’s capabilities as a leader in global aerospace markets and work together to build greater expertise to assure continued growth and prosperity.
At the Beyond the Barriers event, DAIR and the OAC formally entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalize the collaboration between the two organizations. The MOU highlights the following areas of collaboration:
- Advocacy for Ontario’s aerospace sector
- Marketing and communication for promoting the work of Ontario’s aerospace sector
- Research and Partnership opportunities with Ontario’s aerospace stakeholders
“We look forward to an active working relationship with the OAC. DAIR recognizes only through collaboration can we truly strengthen Ontario’s Aerospace sector.” – Andrew Petrou, Executive Director, DAIR
Both organizations have a similar outlook on the benefit of collaboration in order to bring the maximum benefit for all in order to sustain and grow the aerospace sector for Ontario and Canada.
